Dear Friends
A reminder that there is no symphony concert this week – instead the orchestra are busy with concerts at the Suidoosterfees which is taking place at Artscape over the next few days alongside rehearsals for the upcoming production of Pearl Fishers with Cape Town Opera.  This production features the award winning tenor Levy Sekgapane who is one of the most sought after tenors of his type currently on the world opera scene.  If you would like to hear more of Levy – he is also performing a special recital with pianist Jeremy Silver on Friday 5th May in the Baxter Concert Hall. This concert is organised through the Cape Town Concert Series and you can find out more information from their website Tickets available from Webtickets.
The next CPO Symphony Concert takes place on Thursday 4th May with Bernhard Gueller back on the podium and violinist Veriko Tschumburidze performing Dvorak’s Violin Concerto.  The programme also includes Respighi Ancients Airs and Dances Suite 3 and Brahms Symphony No. 3 in F. The concert starts at 7.30pm and there is a pre-concert talk with Albert Combrink at 6.45pm.  Tickets from Computicket.
FOM will once again be hosting the final dress rehearsal that morning at the City Hall at 11am raising much needed funds for the running costs of the orchestra. Tickets available from Quicket.  We are also able to sell tickets at the door through credit card and Snapscan – no cash is allowed for security reasons.  However, if you can book ahead of time this will save queuing at the door.
The same applies for the concert on Thursday 11 May featuring pianist Vitaly Pisarenko.  Conducted by Bernhard Gueller the concert features Liszt Les Preludes,
Liszt  Piano Concerto No 2 in A  Elgar Enigma Variations. Tickets for the evening concert from Computicket and morning concert from Quicket.
Tickets for all the Suidoosterfees events as well as Pearl Fishers are from Computicket.
We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Kind regards
