Dear Friends of Orchestral Music

The Cape Town Concert Series is excited to present it’s first live concert of 2021 and what better way than by collaborating with musicians from the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra to present some fantastic chamber music live on stage in the Baxter Concert Hall.
The programme opens with two pieces by the CPO Brass Quintet. Then three duets for violin and viola with the ‘Salt & Pepper’ duo of Samantha Durrant and Maja van Dyk. We follow with Mozart’s Serenade for Winds in E-flat K375 and finish the programme with the Shostakovich Chamber Symphony for Strings and Timpani lead by guest Concert Master Farida Bacharova. This piece was the highlight of the Miniature Symphony series recorded at Erin Hall last year.  For those that were not able to attend those concerts, or watch the CPO online concerts, this offers a wonderful and intimate way to connect with the musicians until we can return with them in the City Hall.
The Concert will take place at 11am in the Baxter Concert Hall on Saturday 24th April. All Covid protocols apply, and to avoid too much mingling in the foyer, the concert will be 70 minute without interval and will follow with a short ‘in-conversation’ with some of the CPO members in the hall.
Tickets are available from Webtickets, but as loyal supporters of FOM and the CPO, the Concert Series would like to offer you the opportunity to reserve tickets directly for the special price of R150 per ticket.   Please email Louise at info@ctconcerts.co.za and she will send you the banking and booking details.
If you have not yet renewed your membership for 2021 there will be a FOM table in the foyer where your committee will have forms to fill in and answer any questions you may have.

We hope to see you at the concert and look forward to experiencing live music once more.
Kind regards
Friends of Orchestral Music
