As you will know, the FOM Gala Concert takes place at the Cape Town City Hall on Thursday 3 November 2016. The soloist/conductor will be the renowned British pianist Howard Shelley and the programme is an all-Mozart one featuring Symphony No. 35 in D, K.385, the “Haffner” and the Piano Concerto No. 18 in B-flat, K.456, “Paradis” and the Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor, K.466. We are very excited that we have been able to engage this brilliant soloist for our Gala event this year.
I am writing this short note to advise you that the booking for this concert will open on 1 July 2016 for members of the Friends only. This should enable you to secure your favourite seat(s) in the City Hall since the FOM Gala is not part of any CPO symphony season. Please note that the Friends’ discount will only be available when seats are booked at Artscape Dial-a-Seat (021) 421-7695.
Booking for the general public will open on 1 August 2016. The customary post-concert reception for members of the Friends only will take place in the Bloomberg Room and is included in the price of the ticket. Arrangements will be made for member of the Friends to receive identification in order to gain access to the reception and you are kindly requested to please bring your FOM membership card to the concert.
Prices for the concert are R500 (R450 for members of the Friends). This year we have decided that there will be a number of seats available at R350 – for which there will be no discount – while seats on the platform will be R200.
I suspect that there will be considerable interest in the concert and Howard Shelley’s appearance and would encourage you to book early. I have no doubt that it is going to be a superb event!
