Dear Members,
I am writing to give you the news that I have retired as Chairman of the Friends and am pleased to tell you that Derek Auret has taken over. All the committee members are delighted with this as Derek has been very busy organising all sorts of events not only for this year but also for 2015. I have been asked to remain on the Committee as Vice-Chairman, which I gladly do.
Our Soiree which will be on the 13 April is sold out but, if you really want to come then give me a ring and I will put you on the waiting list There are always one or two people who find they can’t make it on the night.
Our yearly Quiz night is set for August 4, as usual at the Glen Country Club with David Buda as Quiz master. We have already arranged 8 tables (we can only accommodate 17 tables) so please be in touch with your usual quiz friends and book your table with Henk Rubidge on 021 439 4656 or 082 974 1602
Please also diarise Wednesday, 23 July 2014 when the Friends will be holding its Annual General Meeting at Artscape. There are a number of important matters that the meeting will have to consider so I encourage you to attend. More details will reach you in due course.
We have a gala concert planned for Thursday, 4 December 2014 with an exciting soloist and a favourite conductor. Watch this space – and the web site – for more details of this exciting event!
The best news is that we have a new web site which is really exciting with a lot of historical facts and pictures and details of events planned for the future. It also includes an on-line membership form so please encourage your friends to become members.
