The chilly winter may want to keep us indoors but there are some wonderful music events taking place in August not to be missed! Violinist Jordan Brooks – who was a beneficiary of the Friends – will be performing a recital on the morning of Saturday 12th August at the Baxter for the Cape Town Concert Series, and will also be leading the Beau Soleil Symphony Orchestra on Saturday 26 August as part of their 40th reunion gala concert.  Both events, and more are listed in this months Unplugged Newsletter – click the link here:

The main news item for the Friends this month is that our Annual Quiz Night returns on Thursday 24th August where you have the chance to put your musical and general knowledge to the test.

These fun evenings aim to raise funds and awareness for orchestral music and musicians in Cape Town, and this year our experienced Quiz Master is Roxane Steffen – who also happens to be the Principal Bassist of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra!Teams are put into tables of 8. Individual tickets can be bought from Quicket for just R180 per person or you can reserve a full table for R1440. The price includes a welcome drink and a light supper. There is also a cash bar available.

Start time- 6.30 for 7pm.
Venue: Innovation Lounge and Opera Bar, Artscape, Foreshore. Parking available.
