Dear Friends of Orchestral Music

Just as things started to open up again – so they closed! With winter also on our doorsteps, perhaps it has not been the worst time to rather stay indoors and find solace with the CPO Winter Cyber Symphonies and music from Fine Music Radio.

In addition to these events, there will be a streamed house concert this coming Friday 23rd July with cellist Chris Njapha. You may remember that, with your support in 2020, we were able to assist in the funding of a new cello for Chris who was finishing his studies at the University of Stellenbosch. Chris will be performing on that cello this Friday at his home in Durban, and the concert is to help him raise funds to continue his music studies at the Manhatten School of Music in New York, where he has been offered a scholarship to studies his Masters.

If you would like to support this concert please follow the link to https://show4me.com/concert/bach-paganini where you can buy tickets and find out how to log onto the concert. You can also follow Chris via his facebook page to learn more about his journey ahead. The programme for the concert will include Bach’s Cello Suite No.1 and Paganini’s Violin Caprice No.13.

Two other online events of interest are a Behind the Scenes series with the newly named Cape Town Baroque Orchestra (formerly Camerata Tinta Barocca) which you can explore on http://www.ctbaroque.co.za. Also the National Arts Festival running until 31st July, has a host of theatre, music, talks, art and more on:
