Dear Friends of Orchestral Music

Exciting news with Live classical events opening up:

Following the success of their first concert of the year with members of the CPO, the Cape Town Concert Series is hosting their next recital on Saturday 29 May at 11am in the Baxter Concert Hall.

Continuing the celebration of musicians who have kept the music playing during lockdown, pianist Christopher Duigan will present a concert of his lockdown favourites by Liszt, Chopin, Debussy and more.  Christopher was one of the first of all musicians in South Africa to present concerts online in 2020, and so far has presented around 120 online concerts from his home every Wednesday and Saturday.  He has given talks, presented requests and played music covering all styles and genres while battling loadshedding and numerous other online glitches – all to keep the music playing.

Once again the Concert Series has extended an invitation to Friends of Orchestral Music to purchase tickets at a special price of R150, which you can do directly by emailing Louise at info@ctconcerts.co.za. She will then add you to her list and send you the necessary banking details.  Regular tickets are on sale from Webtickets at R160/R190.

The concert will be just over one hour long without an interval, and the audience is invited to stay a while longer to be part of an in-conversation with Christopher in the hall after the concert where we will learn abit more about his online experiences.

The Baxter foyer will have tea/drinks available before and after the concert and the foyer is well ventilated. While in the hall Covid protocols require that all members wear their masks during the concert.  The seating is also spaced out.

In addition, the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra announced that they will be selling 100 seats for both rehearsals and recordings of three of their upcoming cyber symphonies on May 27, June 10 and 30. More information from www.cpo.org.za. Tickets for this will be sold through Quicket.  For both concerts – advance booking is required.

Please do log onto the www.fomct.co.za to fill in your 2021 membership form if you have not yet done so. All your memberships go directly to supporting the music projects of the Friends of Orchestral Music.

Kind regards

Friends of Orchestral Music
