Dear Supporters of Friends of Orchestral Music

2023 has been a busy year and we can’t believe we are now beginning our membership drive for 2024!

Since 2017 our members have helped our volunteer committee to raise over R3 million! This has played a vital role in being able to assist our educational portfolios, including the programmes of the Beau Soleil and Hugo Lambrechts Music Centres and the youth projects of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.  We were also able to support bursaries for Western Cape students to attend the South African Strings Symposium, The Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival, the South African National Youth Orchestra and the Franschhoek Chamber Music Workshop.  Through additional fundraising we were also able to donate directly to the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and Fine Music Radio – now the only full-time classical music radio station in the country.

We need your help to give more to these projects in 2024 – so please consider adding a donation to your membership fee – you’ll be investing in the future of classical music in our city.

Our membership fee for 2024 remains at R300 per member (R150 for students).  Membership and bank details below with form and FOM information attached.

A reminder that the new summer symphony season starts next Thursday 9th November at the City Hall. The morning dress rehearsals are again being hosted by FOM as a way to fundraise directly for the orchestra. Tickets are available from Quicket and also at the door with credit card or snapscan (NO CASH allowed). Tickets for the evening concerts are on sale at Computicket.

At the beginning of the year we enjoyed a soiree hosted once again by Bowmans before embarking on renovations, and also hosted a quiz night at Artscape. However, you may have noticed that we did not have a FOM CPO Benefit Gala concert this year- this is because we are holding this over to the beginning of 2024 when we will start the year off with a special concert featuring pianist Olga Kern on January 11th 2024. Details of booking for this will be released shortly.  In the meantime Ruth Allen will once again be collecting donations at our table before each concert in November to support an orchestra chair for the concert. Take your chance to put your name against your favourite CPO musician who will be playing in this concert knowing that all the money raised supports the future of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.

If you have any queries, please email us at info@fomct.com.

We look forward to seeing you at the 2024 CPO concerts and our 2023 soirees. Thank you for helping to build the future of music in Cape Town.

Kind regards
