Dear Friends of Orchestral Music

A reminder that the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra’s Spring Season is back this week at the City Hall with rehearsals open every Thursday morning at 11am.  Tickets are available from Quicket but there is also now the opportunity to purchase at the door with Snapscan.  We are still not able to accept cash.  You can also eft directly to FOM.  Email: info@fom.com for more details. Programmes are listed below.

In addition to the orchestra there is a whole feast of concerts coming up in the next couple of weeks including a special chamber music concert with a quintet from the Kennedy Centre Opera Orchestra who are touring South Africa on 20 September at the Centre for the Book (Quicket), a piano recital with Chopin winner Kate Liu on 23 September in the Baxter Concert Hall (Webtickets), and the return of the Cape Town Baroque Festival from 24 September through to October 2nd- details from ctbaroque.co.za with the opening concert being part of the Cape Town Concert Series at 11am on Saturday morning with Charl du Plessis and Tim Kliphuis. Tickets from Webtickets.

If you are staying home tomorrow evening (15 September) then at 8pm Fine Music Radio will be broadcasting highlights from the Johan Vos Piano Competition which took place recently at the Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre featuring some of Cape Town’s finest young pianists. In addition to the traditional 101.3, Dstv 838 and Internet, FMR has developed their own app which means you can now download FMR onto your phone and listen to it anywhere.

Thank you for your support of music in Cape Town, we look forward to seeing you at a live performance again soon!

Kind regards

Louise Howlett
