A musical journey exploring the unique soundscapes of different world cultures. We begin in the land of the rising sun, Japan, with the works of Keiko Abe, deeply inspired by nature. From there we explore the dance of the Tango with its South American heritage with compositions by Piazzolla. We then find ourselves in Africa, the home of the marimba, performing works by Steve Reich as well as arrangements of traditional African songs. Our final destination will be music reflecting the oriental sounds of the Balkans and Middle East with composers such as Nebojsa Zivkovic and Avner Dorman. Join us as we embark on this cross- cultural musical adventure.

Cherilee Adams and Dylan Tabisher started percussion in 2002 at the Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre with Suzette Brits.

They were members of the Hugo Lambrechts Percussion Trio in 2006 that was overall winner at the Stellenbosch Ensemble competition. In 2007 they formed a duet and performed as soloists with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra and Stellenbosch Symphony Orchestra. In the same year they were also members of the US Percussion ensemble that won a category prize at the ATKV-Muziq competition. In 2009 the US Percussion Duo were chosen to perform as guest artists at the opening of the Stellenbosch Chamber Music Festival.

The Duo received the category prize at the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Competition in 2010. During 2012 they won ATKV-Muziq, the ATKV’s national classical instrumental competition. Dylan and Cherilee both completed their Masters at Stellenbosch University, where they specialised in performance and have travelled extensively in America and Japan building up their knowledge of their music. They both regularly perform as adhoc players with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
